Elois “Marilyn” Jansen (Flaterud) was born November 23, 1952 to Olaf and Evelyn (Allinson) Flaterud in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan. She went school in Kyle, then went to Calgary to be a car jockey, from there she went to Saskatoon to take hairdressing school. After finishing her schooling she moved to Biggar to work. It was at this time she met the man of her dreams…a cowboy from Beechy, Ross Jansen. They got married in 1975 and shortly after they started their family. They raised their 3 girls on the ranch west of Beechy in the hills. She was very active in the community with CGIT, 4-H; numerous boards/committees; Relay for Life fundraisers; Church missions down to Mexico, to take Christmas bags to the correction centre, quilting group. She loved watching her grandkids play sports, watching curling and travelling. She was a woman that wore many hats over the years for jobs, but her most favourite was cooking at the Lucky Lake Health Centre, she loved the elderly. Marilyn is lovingly remembered by her husband Ross of 47 years, her daughters Noel Taylor (Wes Nyhus), Jodie (Chad) Peters, Erin (James) Green; her grandchildren Dayne, Shayla (Austin), Garret; Liam, Carson; Casey, Ty, Jessie; her great grandchildren Ryker, Parker, Brynleigh, Madelyn; her brothers Glen Flaterud, Norman (Lorna) Flaterud; and by numerous sisters and brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles and cousins. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Olaf and Evelyn Flaterud, her brother Kevin Flaterud, sisterin-law Jane Flaterud, father and mother-in-law Joop and Connie Jansen, nephew Carter Jansen.
The funeral service was held on January 6, 2023 at 2pm at the Beechy Community Hall.
