Mary (Hazel) BELL

It is with sadness the family of Mary Bell announce her passing on December 2, 2020 at the Elrose Health Centre at the age of 98 years.

Mary was born in Mór, Hungary on January 29, 1922 to Frank and Mary Hazel. She emigrated to Canada in 1926 where the family settled on a farm in the Hughton district. After completing her grade 12, she went on to Normal School where she received her teaching degree. She married Norman Bell in 1944 and they settled on the farm where raised their three children and remained for 39 years. Mary was very active in the community being involved in many groups and organizations such as WI, Tops, Girl Guides and the Home Care Board - to name a few. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, baking, cooking, music, travelling and square dancing. She was caring, strong, a great leader and very loving. Her family meant the world to her and they will all miss her deeply.

Mary is survived by her son Rick Bell (Erica) and daughter Lorna (Wayne) Miller; grandchildren Michelle Watson (Mark), Darin (Julie) Watson, Amanda (Rick) Waldner, Allison (Darren) Leys, Ashleigh (Ken) Hyatt, Alanna Bell, Bonnie (Richard) Walker and Lisa (Jim) Wu; great-grandchildren Liam, Ella and Remi Leys, Justin and Jessica Watson, Sophie Watson, Lucas and Thomas Waldner, Sadie and Charlie Walker and Cam, Ray and Brie Wu as well as numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Norman Bell, daughter Donna Watson, brother Ken Hazel, grandson Brady Miller, sister-in-law Shirley Bouclin, infant son Kirby Bell and parents Frank and Mary Hazel.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hughton Cemetery followed by a Come and Go Tea at the Elrose Drop In Centre from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
