Mary Willena (MacINTOSH) McINTOSH

May 27, 1950 ~ May 16, 2023 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Willena McIntosh on May 16, 2023 at the age of 72 years.

Mary was born May 27, 1950, in Pictou, Nova Scotia, to parents James (Jim) and Annie Isabel MacIntosh. She spent her childhood in Scotsburn, Nova Scotia, with her five siblings. After completing her training at the Halifax Infirmary School of Nursing she decided to take a vacation, so she ventured to Saskatchewan and ended up staying. She married Larry in 1978 and together they farmed in the Plenty area and raised three children - Leanne, David, and Scott. Mary enjoyed working as a Registered Nurse at the Rosetown & District Health Centre where she worked for 41 years, making lasting friendships and memories with her co-workers. Mary was also very involved in the community of Plenty, volunteering to lead children’s activities, being an active member of the United Church, and directing the community Dinner Theatre for many years (which she loved doing except for the two weeks leading up to the performances, during which time she was always sure they would never be ready in time to perform). She spent many hours attending her children’s activities and was always very proud of their accomplishments. She was thrilled with the arrival of grandchildren and loved to keep track of their various activities as well. Although Mary loved her life in Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia held a special place in her heart and she cherished her visits “back home” to catch up with her family and friends.

Mary’s memory will be cherished by her daughter Leanne (Colin) Hoeft, son David (Stacey) McIntosh, son Scott McIntosh; grandchildren Eva, Dempsey, and Cormac Hoeft, Cailen and Hadley McIntosh; sister Margaret (John) MacKenzie, brother James (Joanne) MacIntosh, sister Lillian (Joe) MacIntosh, brother Lloyd (Judy) MacIntosh, brother-in-law Doug McIntosh, sister-in-law Sharon (Allan) Kaiser and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Larry McIntosh, parents James (Jim) and Annie “Isabel” MacIntosh, in-laws Garnet and Irene McIntosh, brother Fraser (Cindy) MacIntosh, and sister-in-law Marvel McIntosh.

A Private Family Interment will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at the Plenty Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Recreation of Plenty (C.R.O.P), P.O. Box 189, Plenty, SK, S0L 2R0, or a charity of your choice.
