Mary Margaret (Schneider) REMPEL

It is with sadness that the family of Mary Rempel of Kyle, SK announce her passing on June 5, 2022 at the age of 92 years. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Mary was born on the Schneider family farm near Clearwater Lake. After Mary's schooling she worked locally, most notably at the McClatchy farm. She met Johnny Rempel of the Beaver Flat area and they were married in 1947. Johnny was a working cowboy at community pastures and ranches along the river. After their marriage they farmed and raised cattle for a few short years near Clearwater before returning to the Matador Community Pasture putting down roots for the next forty plus years. There, they raised their five children Gary, Kenny, Wade, Kathy and Carol.

Mary's home was a very busy place from dawn to dusk yet the coffee pot was always on. Mary cooked for her own family and the hired hands at the Matador Pasture for many years. Mary had very high standards for everything and the energy and determination to get things done. Her home was perfectly clean and tidy at all times, her garden and yard were weed free and her meals were legendary - many people said she cooked the best meals they had ever eaten. Johnny and Mary moved to their new home in Kyle in 1984 where Mary remained living independently until her passing. Mary's garden, yard and flowers were beautiful in the summer and her Christmas light display was just as beautiful in the winter.  Mary loved rodeo, and watching her family working and competing in rodeo was her greatest joy. She also enjoyed bingo, knitting countless afghans, picking saskatoons and baking pies, visiting, travelling and camping with friends and family and holding and rocking all those babies.

Mary is survived by her children Gary Rempel (Jody), Kenny Rempel (Rhonda), Wade Rempel (Cindy) and Kathy Strandquist (Brad); grandchildren: Shelley Rempel, Kevin Rempel (Tracy), Kristy Machan, Jamie Packard (Tyler), Bobbi Jo Rempel (Ryan McDowell), Casey Rempel (Alaina), and Cody Strandquist; great-grandchildren: Ryan Gerl, Samantha Rempel, Riley Rempel, Cruz Packard, Benz Packard, Tad Machan, Caroline Machan, Laine McDowell, Logan McDowell, Cort Rempel and Sloan Rempel; brother Alex Schneider and several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years Johnny Rempel in 2018, her beloved daughter Carol Rempel, 12 years of age in 1978, her parents Joseph and Mary Schneider, sisters Gladys Knox, Betty Schneider, Annie Speir and Eva Barlow and brother Leslie Schneider.

A Celebration of Mary's Life and Luncheon will take place on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Kyle Elks & Community Hall in Kyle, SK. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to Stars Air Ambulance, 2475 Airport Dr, Saskatoon, SK S7L 7L1.
