Born to Norman and Geraldine Rya in Saskatoon in 1958, Melanie's life journey was characterized by her strength, optimistic demeaner, and her unwavering commitment to community service. Her boundless heart led her to become an active member of several service groups, including the Rosetown Music Festival, Grief Support Group, Red Hat Society, UCW, WI, and Beta Sigma Phi. Through these affiliations, Melanie demonstrated her belief in the power of unity and her passion for making a positive impact on the lives of others.
It was during her time at the University of Saskatchewan, where Melanie pursued her education degree, that she crossed paths with the love of her life, Randy. A farmer from Rosetown, Randy was attending the 2-year vocational agriculture course at U of S. Their meeting marked the beginning of a beautiful journey together, as they found in each other's company a bond that would shape their lives and leave an enduring mark on their family and friends. During this time Melanie would work in the Dinsmore school as a teacher and the TD Bank in Rosetown as a teller, alongside her duties as a farm wife.
Family was at the heart of Melanie's world. Her son Ryan's marriage to Amber brought her great happiness. As they grew their family the addition of Cohen, Hadley, and Beckham as her grandchildren became a source of unending joy, filling her life with warmth and love.
As we honor Melanie's memory, let us reflect on the indelible impact she made through her strength, kindness, love, and her unwavering commitment to service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Rosetown Minor Athletics Association.
