Merle (Anderson) CROTEAU

Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.  Mary Merle Christena Croteau was a beautiful lady, who leaves behind infinite beautiful memories.  She was thankful for her blessed life, and will be lovingly remembered for her ever gentle and kind spirit. 

Without question, Merle’s joy was her family. She was born 104 years ago to Mary and John Anderson on the homestead near Coderre, Saskatchewan. Her journey was shared with three siblings: Jean, Murray and Ross.  Early in her teaching career, Merle caught the eye of Laurent Edmund Croteau (deceased), and they were married in 1942.  Holding her love in their hearts are children: Della, Joel (Barb), Marlene and Denise (Howard); oldest son Jack (deceased) was held close. Merle’s eyes sparkled when she was with her five grandchildren; they loved playing games with Gramma - she happily let them win.  Merle’s beautiful soul will live on through her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dear to her heart were many nieces and nephews, and their families.

Merle cherished family life in Pennant, Sask.  She was an active participant in community events, and was excited for ‘coffee row’ days, and baking her requested homemade pies.  She was also an avid reader, knitter, bridge player and sudoku solver. A big part of Merle’s life were summer days at Clearwater Lake with family and friends.  One of her greatest gifts was her ability to truly listen to others… when you became Merle’s friend, you were a friend for life.

We are forever grateful to have been surrounded in her beautiful warmth and love.

Merle’s Memorial Mass will be held Friday, May 22nd at 1:00 pm at Christ the Redeemer Parish, 1850 Springs Gate, Swift Current, SK.
