The family of Murray Green late of Anglia are saddened to announce his passing on September 11, 2021 at the age of 72 years.
Murray was born on February 13, 1949 in Calgary, AB. He was raised at Anglia and went to school at Anglia for elementary and Rosetown for high school. He grew up on the farm with siblings Bonnie, Betty, Robbie and Louise, mother Pauline and step-father Robert Green.
Murray wore many hats in his lifetime – farming, truck driving, commercial fishing, coast guard, alcohol and addictions councilor and welder, but his favorite was being an industrial mechanic and then later an industrial mechanics instructor at SaskPolytech where he was able to pass on his love for the trade and his knowledge. Murray retired in 2014 and began to have fun doing his many projects – he could never sit idle. In his final years, he enjoyed life to his best extent with his spouse Tanya as they tended to their garden, chickens and many shared hobbies. Murray loved time with his good friends and family over the phone or over a cup of coffee. He lived a life you can ‘hang your hat on’, as he said and is carried on by his children of whom he had an undying love for and were his source of pride - they were the arrows in his quiver.
Murray enjoyed many hobbies and was interested in a vast majority of things, he spent time hunting, fishing, flying airplanes, building and playing guitars, gardening and studying the bible. He was a student of life and was in the pursuit of knowledge even into his final days. If he didn’t know how to do something, he would find or invent a way. He always said there was no such word as ‘can’t’. He will be missed by all those he loved and who loved him, in Dad’s words, ‘I gotta go, kid’.
Murray is survived by his spouse Tanya Nyberg, children Jana (Chris) Semeniuk, Natina (Dale) Martin, Nicky (Darcy) Mann, Steven (Shauna) Silvernagle, Mike (Tanya) Silvernagle, Natasha (Mike) Longman, Joey (Marlie) Green, Ben (Lisa) Green and Sarah (Jimmy) Hunter, step-children Candice (Tony) Pieper, Travis (Jen) Smith and Andy Smith, 25 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews, very special friends Tim, Dan and Rob from SIAST and longtime friend Bill Sword. He was predeceased by his mother Pauline Green, step-father Robert Green, father Ross Johnston, sister Bonnie Jardine, brother Robbie Green and grandson Jaden.
A private family graveside service was held at the Anglia Cemetery. In memory of Murray, the family asks that if you wish to make a donation that you plant a tree in his memory or spend some time with your family outdoors.
