Phyllis Marie (Meyer) CENNON

Phyllis Marie Cennon was born March 7, 1946 in Galahad, AB to parents Clarence and Ida Meyer. She passed away March 27, 2020 after struggling with dementia, in Elrose, SK.  While the end came suddenly, she was fortunate to have family with her.

Phyllis grew up in Galahad, AB and was the oldest of four girls. After graduating from high school, she attended business college in Edmonton and went to work for Alberta Treasury Branch. Phyllis met Allan in Edmonton and were married on August 24, 1968.  After marrying, they lived in Saskatoon where they welcomed first daughter, Sheila.  In 1971, Phyllis and Al moved to Fox Creek, AB where Brad and Shalene joined the family.  In 1978, Phyllis and Al moved to Elrose where they lived until her passing.  All throughout her life, family and home were Phyllis’ pride and joy. She felt blessed to be a part of the Elrose Community and contributed to it in her own special way.

Throughout her life, Phyllis was known for her love of music, curling, golf and bridge.  Her favourite songs always brought smiles and laughter, even when she was unable to remember the words. 

Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her husband Al, children Shelia (Dave), Brad (Kelly) and Shalene (Blair); grandchildren Alex, Reagan, Dawson and Carter as well as sisters Janet (Cam) Palmer, Ellen Hay and Lois (Dave) Facco and several nieces and nephews. 

Phyllis’ family wants to express sincere, heartfelt gratitude to each and every health care member and supporting staff at the Elrose Health Centre.  They sang with her, they danced with her, they made her comfortable, they made her feel loved.  Thank you for giving our mom such quality of life during her stay.

A Celebration of Phyllis’ Life will be held at a later date and an announcement will be made.
