It is with great sadness the family of Roger Hammond announce his passing at age 61. He died tragically on Sunday, January 16th, 2022. Roger was born and raised in Elrose, SK where he farmed with his family, then worked until retirement. He married Elaine Speir and together they raised 2 daughters, Mackenzie Paige and Brooklynn Carley. Roger was a natural athlete and excelled at everything. He spent a great deal of his time at the Elrose Uniplex between playing hockey, coaching hockey, reffing, and more recently, watching most games. Roger was a kind man, with a huge heart. He will be greatly missed by his daughters: Mackenzie (Nick) Prpich and Brooklynn Hammond (Colby Cowan); his grandkids: Piper Prpich, Sawyer Prpich, Miller Cowan, Mayson Cowan, and baby Prpich; his siblings: Roy (Gerry) Hammond, Sandra Derdall, Joan (Marvin) Erickson, Jim Hammond, and brother in law Larry Quintilio; Numorous in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends. Roger is predeceased by his wife, Elaine Hammond, sister June Quintilio, his parents Bill & Helena Hammond, in-laws Bob & Iva Speir, brother-in-law Curtis Derdall, and nephew Mark Erickson.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Memorial Hall in Elrose, SK. A video of the service and the slideshow made by Roger's daughter Brooklynn is available below.
