Ron was born to Leo and Luella (Babe) Rowley on November 7, 1930, in Hawarden Saskatchewan. Ron completed Grade 10 in Hawarden, moved to Elrose in 1948 and worked in Rosetown until 1951. He spent a year of his life in the Saskatoon Sanitorium after being diagnosed with Tuberculosis. After his recovery, he joined his father at Rowley's Electric Ltd. in 1952 in Elrose. On June 30, 1959, Ron married Florence Elaine Anderson, a teacher in Elrose. They had three children together: Brent Ronald born April 1960, Barry William born August 1962 and Leona Elaine born June 1967.
Ron always had a passion for all sports. He not only enjoyed watching, but playing his favorite sports - baseball, hockey, curling and golf. His favorite teams were the Montreal Canadiens, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Ron loved dancing and visiting with his buddies and taking part in social events and he liked to help out in his community whenever needed. Ron belonged to the Elrose Local School Board, he was member of the Elrose Royal Canadian Legion, the Elrose Lions Club and the Elrose Golden Age Club. He was also a member of the Elrose Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Ron is survived by his wife Florence of 62 years, children Brent (Suzanne) Rowley, Barry (Beverley) Rowley and Leona (Terry) Le Lievre, seven grandchildren Morgan (Becky) Rowley, Serena Rowley (Chris West), Mitchell (Bradi) Rowley, Taylor (Adam) Bergman, Alexa Antochow (Braden Klemen), Kyle Antochow (Brittany Nelson) and Avery Le Lievre; three great-grandchildren Blake Bergman, Derek Rowley and Connor Rowley, brother Gordon (Janet) Rowley and their children Erin Rowley and Adam (Kari) Rowley, brother-in-law Donald Anderson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ron was predeceased by his mother and father Leo and Babe Rowley; mother and father-in-law Bill and Helga Anderson; (Brother) Glenn (Donna) Rowley, (Nephew) Patrick Rowley, (Niece) Ava Rowley, (Brother) Lester (Bunny) Rowley, (Infant Daughter) Patty Rowley; (Nephew) Terry Rowley (Brother-in-law) Walter (Marilyn) Anderson; (Brother-in-law) Edward (Twila) Anderson.
A Celebration of Ron’s Life was held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elrose United Church with Pastor Deborah Springer officiating.
