Shayne Riley FLYNN

Shayne Riley Flynn, 31, of Beechy, SK passed away as result of injuries sustained in an accident on August 19, 2023. He was born on June 20, 1992 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, the son of Bernie and Sheila Flynn and younger brother of Krysta. He attended Beechy School (K-12) graduating in 2010. Shayne was a Journeyman Electrician at MG Electric, where he learned the trade and worked alongside is dad (Bernie) since he was old enough to hold a screwdriver (~10 years old). He was an active member of the Beechy Elks Club and the Beechy Volunteer Fire Department.

Shayne was very active his entire life playing many different sports. In his youth he played volleyball, minor hockey, badminton, curling and football. He more recently was active in baseball (with the Beechy Breakers), snowboarding, rec-hockey, and slo-pitch. However, his favorite pastime was golf and he took great pleasure in playing with his family and friends. He also enjoyed spending as much time as he could at the family cabin, boating and wakeboarding, as well as camping with his family, playing cards and many other games with his friends. He really enjoyed spending time ice fishing in the winter months and he was very proud of the ‘ultra’ ice shack that he, his dad, and a close friend built.

Shayne was a person who was larger than life. He was community-focused, hardworking, hard playing, and Shayne lived life to the fullest. There was no halfway with Shayne, he was all-in, all the time!  He loved his family, loved his many friends, loved to meet new people and he made new friends wherever he went. He was a kind soul who went out of his way to help others and would always make time for those close to him. You knew you were loved when Shayne gave you one of his patented ‘Shayne hugs’. He had a beautiful smile and infectious laugh, a twinkle in his eyes, a huge heart and made you feel special - it didn’t matter who you were. 

Shayne was so deeply loved and is survived by his mother and father Sheila & Bernie Flynn and sister Krysta Flynn. He is also survived by his grandmother Frances Haughian and by many uncles, aunts, cousins and countless friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Martin and Celina Flynn, grandfather Patrick Haughian and uncle Donald Haughian.

A Service was held for Shayne on Saturday, August 26th at 2:00 p.m. at the Beechy Community Hall, followed by a Celebration of Life in honor of him.
