The family of Shirley Brown is sad to announce her passing on January 7, 2026, at the Rosetown and District Health Centre.
Shirley was born on September 28, 1932, in Dodsland, SK, to Bert and Virginia Boyd along with her twin sister, Verle. Shirley was raised in Wiseton where she attended school and later married Glen Brown on November 27, 1951. They shared many years together on the family farm north of Hughton before moving to Elrose in 1990.
Shirley was a kind lady who found great joy in the simple rhythms of life and the company of others. She was a fixture in her social circle, always looking forward to coffee with the “girls”, as she fondly called them. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of her congregation who rarely missed a Sunday service. At home, she was an avid reader and a loyal fan of televised curling. Her days were often spent with Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, two programs she never wanted to miss. Whether she was out at the bowling alley or enjoying a game of bingo, Shirley’s gentle presence was felt by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter Sandra and son-in-law Stan, her grandchildren Dustin and Brandy, and her great-grandchildren Ethan, Amelia, and Rylan, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Glen, her daughter Heather, and her siblings Bev Boyd, Verle Voisine, and Darlene Bouvette.
A Celebration of Shirley's Life will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Elrose United Church. In memory of Shirley, donations may be made to the Elrose Volunteer Fire Brigade or the Elrose United Church.
