Thelma Alice (Thomas) WRIGHT

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Thelma Alice Wright, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, May 18th, 2023.

Thelma was born April 14th, 1939, in Biggar, Saskatchewan to Vera and Mike Thomas. On November 6th, 1959, she married Bud (Arthur) Wright, her husband of sixty-one years and together they raised their two sons, Terry and Darren. Thelma worked at the Co-op Coffee Bar, Co-op Pharmacy, and Farmer’s Market, alongside raising her two boys.

Thelma loved to share her creativity with her family and community. She loved to play the organ and was a prolific crafter, teaching crochet lessons at the Rosetown Community College and whipping up afghan blankets at record speed. In her younger years, Thelma enjoyed spending summers at the lake with Bud and the boys, and spent many afternoons playing slow-pitch. In her later years, Thelma stayed active as a member of the Rosetown dance club and especially enjoyed listening to old-time live music. She loved to be organized and always looked forward to her morning ritual of solitaire over a hot cup of coffee. In the summer months, she was a keen gardener and enjoyed arranging her flowers and solar lights. But her pride and joy was her annual outdoor Christmas display that lit up the neighbourhood for over thirty winters.

Thelma will be dearly missed by her sons Terry (Roxanne) and Darren (Laura), as well as her five grandchildren, Rychele, Braeden, Crystal, Kayla (Thomas), and Bailey (Greg), and great-grandson, Bennett.

Thelma’s family would also like to thank Dr. Dan and the team of amazing nurses at the Rosetown Hospital who provided her with such incredible and compassionate care. Plans for a small gathering for a Celebration of Life for Thelma are forthcoming.
