Thomas BAILEY Obituary

It is with sadness the family of Thomas Hammill Bailey announce his passing on January 16, 2021 at his home in Rosetown, SK.

Tom was born May 10, 1956 in Milden and grew up on a mixed farm in the Sovereign area attending school in both Sovereign and Milden.  He was active in a number of clubs during his school days even playing the clarinet in the school band. Tom enjoyed working with his hands whether it was welding or mechanics; and would spend hours in the shop tinkering away at his most recent project.  Tom was an adrenaline junkie and gravitated towards all things horsepower from motorcycles, skidoos, go karts to cars.  For him this led to a collaboration with Grant Thomson and Ken Douslin for BTD Racing, the friends built two cars for drag racing at SIR in Saskatoon.

On the farm, Tom preferred dealing with the equipment but was always there to assist throughout calving.  Brandings were typically held on Mother’s Day weekend which aligned with Tom’s birthday and were cause for celebration after the hard work was done.  No celebration at the Bailey farm was ever complete without the inclusion of Tom’s partner in crime John Billett also known lovingly as John Boy.

Tom’s greatest love was always farming whether it was the family farm or later with his farm families – Winny Brothers (George & Jim Winny) and George, Terri, Mariah & Hannah Winny.  He had many great memories and stories about his farm families and the various crews over the years.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother Norman (Mildred) Bailey and their children Kerry (Jarret); Jennifer (Lonnie) and their children Sara, Emma, Jada, Quinn and Garyn; Travis (Penny) and son Merrick; Jaclyn (Kim) and daughters Elle and Layla; aunt Margaret Henderson and numerous cousins.  Tom was predeceased by his parents Frank and Mildred (Henderson) Bailey; Uncles George & Alf Bailey, Lloyd & Bert Henderson; Aunts Alice, Ellen & Marion Bailey and Doreen Henderson; and cousin Laurie Henderson.

Due to the current pandemic, no services will be held, his family will share a private vigil.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sovereign Lions Club - Box 2219 Rosetown, SK. S0L 2V0.  In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to reach out and connect to someone you haven’t spoken to for some time.  “Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.”

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
