Wendy TRAPP Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Wendy Susan Trapp, announce her passing on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the Dinsmore Health Care Centre at the age of 73.  She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years Bruce, daughter Megan Keeler and son Louis (Teresa), as well as 3 grandchildren Alex Keeler, Scarlett and Emmett Trapp who made her eyes light up every time they visited. Left to also mourn her passing are her sister Gail O’Brien, brother Gary (Pat) Gordon, both of Ontario, as well as brothers-in law Bill (Carol), Bunny (Judy) and Norm (Averil), sister-in-law Jesse (Gord) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Irene (née French) Gordon, sister Kelly, brother Ralph, brother-in-law William O’Brien, mother and father-in-law Ruth and Donald Trapp, Grace Trapp and nephew David Trapp. Wendy was born in Orillia, Ontario and enjoyed spending her summers at the beaches near her home as well as visiting her Aunt Jean in Somerset. By chance, Wendy met a handsome young farmer from Saskatchewan who eventually won her heart, resulting in a life-changing move to the Prairies. Wendy and Bruce were married in January 1979, Megan was born in May 1982 (during a blizzard which she always reminded us of) and Louis completed the family in November 1984. Mom enjoyed reading English murder mysteries, watching Coronation Street, writing and baking. She was very proud to be a member of the Rosetown Writer’s Group. Mom also enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies, which were stored in the freezer in 4L pails, to be quickly consumed by Bruce and Louis. Every holiday season was not complete without her sugar cookies loaded with heaps of icing.  Mom had a fondness for animals and there is no doubt her precious Elmo, Brooklyn, Lily and Midnight greeted her Wednesday morning. Becoming a Grandma was one of the highlights of Mom’s life – her eyes twinkled and there was always laughter when Alex, Scarlett and Emmett visited.  She always ensured the snack drawer will filled with all sorts of tasty treats and her favorite Coca Cola for the kids. As Mom’s COPD began to limit her abilities, Dad took on the role of caregiver until the difficult decision was made to transfer her to the Dinsmore Health Care Centre, where she was fortunate enough to have Megan and Alex close by to visit often.  The family wishes to thank the DHCC staff for the kindness and compassion towards Mom during her time there.  The Service of Remembrance was held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elks Hall in Rosetown. Donations in memory of Wendy may be directed to the Saskatchewan Lung Association, 2308 Arlington Avenue, Saskatoon SK, S7J 3L3 or to the Saskatoon SPCA, 5028 Clarence Avenue South, Grasswood, SK, S7T 1A7.
