We are sad to announce that our Mom Wilma (Billie) Nichols passed away at Lucky Lake Health Centre on December 5, 2023. We were blessed with her presence for 93 years.
Mom was born in Bengough, Saskatchewan to Gladys and Art Devereux. Mom travelled to England and the Yukon before beginning her teaching career in various locations until she came to teach in Birsay where she met and married Jack Nichols in 1959. They raised two daughters on their farm south of Birsay. Mom loved baking, reading and farm life. In their later years, Mom and Dad could be seen touring the countryside checking out their favourite spots as well as the crops. Mom spent her latter years in Lucky Lake.
Mom was predeceased by her husband (Dad) Jack Nichols, her mom and dad, Gladys and Art Devereux; her in laws Lottie Thomas and Max Nichols, as well as her sisters and their husbands, June and Paul March; Kae and Angus Thompson. She is survived by her daughters Sherri (Terry) Sieffert and Barb (Cam) Millard; her grandchildren Nicole Erdmann, Jared Sieffert, Sydney Millard and her great grandchildren Maxwell Sieffert and Milo Sieffert. She is also survived by her in-laws Muriel Prince, Lynne (Walter) Schellenberg, Garry (Cheryl) Nichols and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at the Birsay United Church on December 12, 2023 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Birsay United Church Box 39 Birsay, SK S0L 0G0.
