The family of Donald Alexander Ross is saddened to announce his passing on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Elrose Health Centre at the age of 99 years.

Don was born on the farm at Milden, SK on April 10, 1918. He took his schooling there and later, took a government sponsored agriculture course. He worked for different farmers in the area and delivered fuel for the Imperial Oil agent at Milden for two years. Don married Dorothy (nee Grunerud) Strand in 1941 and shortly after moved to Vancouver. There he worked for the Boeing Aircraft Factory where they built P.B.Y. Amphibian flying aeroplanes. He then worked for Canadian Pacific Airlines in the overhaul department where he operated a duall machine and a milling machine. Don joined the Royal Canadian Engineers and was discharged when the war was over. Don and Dorothy came back to Milden and worked on a farm for a year before moving to Rosetown where he built the Rosetown Paint and Body Shop which he managed for 37 years. He continued to farm on the family farm until 2008.

Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, reading and spending time with his family.

Don is survived by his daughter Marjorie Sutherland and her husband Larry Burechailo; step-son Don Strand; grandson Kevin (Patty) Sutherland and their son Cody; granddaughter Pam (Randy) Oakenfold and their son Bradley (Shania); step-grandson Rick (Heather) Strand and their son Eric; step-grandson Bruce (Terry) Strand and family and his special friend Shirley England and her family. He was predeceased by his parents Donald & Annie Ross, his wife Dorothy (nee Grunerud) Strand, daughter-in-law Marlene Strand, sister Margaret (Jack) Kerr as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and a great-grandchild.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rosetown United Church with Reverend Jo-Ann Hills officiating. Donations in memory of Don may be made to the Elrose Health Centre Auxiliary – Activity Fund, P.O. Box 100, Elrose, SK S0L 0Z0 or to the Rosetown Legion Poppy Fund, P.O. Box 1083, Rosetown, SK, S0L 2V0.
